Conversations about AI often split into two camps. One side cheers every new release. The other warns that each step forward costs us something we cannot get back.
This blog takes a different position: pro-progress and pro-protection at the same time.
New developments in AI can be genuinely useful. They can help people learn, work, and solve hard problems. It is worth staying curious and vocal about that progress, and giving credit where it is due.
At the same time, progress that ignores people is not real progress. Systems should respect the data they are built on and the people that data describes. Clear consent, sensible limits on collection, and honest explanations of how data is used are not obstacles. They are what make trust possible.
Holding both views is not a contradiction. It is simply asking technology to be as good for people as it is impressive.
